Supergroup is a band formed from the collaboration of well-known musicians who successfully as part of a band or as a solo artist. Supergroup formed usually only as a side project based on the similarity of ideas and feelings among fellow musicians in music. This side project is temporary and is not intended to be permanent, but in some cases there are some musicians who make this side project as a key project of their career. Through supergroup, these musicians can vent their pent-up ideas and ideals which may not be distributed when they are in the main band.

Supergroup phenomenon began in the '60s when guitarist Eric Clapton decided to form a new band called Cream. The reason Eric Clapton form Cream because he feels there is a limit when it is in the band The Yardbirds and John Mayall Bluebreakers. Hearing this, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker decided to join with Eric Clapton to establish Cream. The three of them then carry music by blending blues, hard rock, and psychedelic rock. Since its emergence, the band successfully produced four albums for four consecutive years and managed to get a platinum album is "Wheels of Fire" in 1968. The appearance of the band became the beginning of the birth of the world's first supergroup that also give effect to the formation of another supergroup to date. Members : Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar (Ex- Van Halen), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Michael Anthony (Ex- Van Halen).

Chickenfoot is a supergroup that is filled by the rock superstar inadvertently formed from the results of joint jamming jams held at Hagar 's club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Chickenfoot consists of four persons and each member of the band has had big names that would have been known by fans of rock music.

TEENAGE TIME KILLERS

Members : Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O, Burning Witch), Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Nick Oliveri (Queens of the Stone Age), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys, Guantanamo School Of Medicine), Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) and Randy Blythe (Lamb of God).

Teenage Time Killers is a new project of Dave Grohl, Mick Murphy, and Reed Mullin which began to be formed in 2014. The project also presents stars such as Max Cavalera (Soulfly), Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste, Iron Reagan), Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (Misfits), Keith Morris (Black Flag) , Phil Rind (Sacred Reich), Neil Fallon of Clutch, Tommy Victor of Prong, and much more.

This project has been dealt with seriously by binding contract with Rise Records label. Teenage Time Killers has scheduled to release an album titled Greatest Hits Vol. 1 in 2015. Some of the new songs have also been released and you can see through youtube like Hung Out ​​To Dry, Barrio and Ode to Sean Hannity.

FOO FIGHTERS

Members : Dave Grohl (Nirvana), Nate Mendel (Sunny Day Real Estate), Chris Shiflett (No Use for a Name, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes), Pat Smear and Taylor Hawkins (Alanis Morissette).

The death of frontman Kurt Cobain in 1994 to the end of the trip Nirvana. Since then, Dave Grohl received many offers to become a drummer in a famous band. But Dave Grohl choose to invite Kurt Novoselic (former Nirvana bassist) to create a new band. Then Dave Grohl continued to form a new band called Foo Fighters, and he decided to turn into a guitarist and vocalist. To complete the band members, Dave Grohl hook bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith of Sunny Day Real Estate. William Goldsmith position eventually replaced by Taylor Hawkins in 1997. Dave Grohl also invites Pat Smear to join the Foo Fighters. Pat Smear is a guitarist who had participated in the tour of Nirvana's In Utero album. Although it had occurred several changes of band members throughout his career, Foo Fighters remain solid until today.

Foo Fighters is a rock band that was founded in 1994 in Seattle, USA. The name Foo Fighters inspired by the name of UFOs are often seen by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II. Since Foo Fighters was formed, they have been the pioneers who brought grunge and rock at the new level. During their career, Foo Fighters has won eleven Grammy Awards and won Best Rock Album of them four times. Their last album titled "Sonic Highway" was also awarded Album of the Year in 2014.

THE TRANSPLANTS

Members : Tim Armstrong  (Rancid), Travis Barker (Blink-182), Skinhead Rob, Kevin Bivona.

Transplants is a rap rock group formed in 1999 in the United States by Tim Armstrong (Rancid) and Rob Aston. Tim Armstrong is a musician who likes to experiment and have high creativity in terms of music. He was not satisfied with just playing punk music and want to create something new. Before joining Rancid, Tim Armstrong has a band called Operation Ivy more carries ska and reggae music than punk music. His meeting with the rapper named Rob Aston bring the idea to combine punk and rap music. Both then write some lyrics and invite their friends to fill their sound, such as Matt Freeman (Rancid), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), and Vic Ruggiero (The Slackers). In 2002, Transplants official recruited drummer Travis Barker of Blink-182 to join in Transplants. Joining Travis Barker making music Transplants became more upbeat as the ability of an incredible drum beats of Travis.

The band's genre is actually a combination of punk, reggae, dub, punk, alternative and hip - hop. However Transplants contains more elements of hip hop. Audioslave is a supergroup that brought the genre of alternative rock, hard rock and post - grunge which originated in America and was founded in 2001. Audioslave also one of the pioneers of grunge music in the era of Kurt Cobain. Beginning of the establishment of this band was when Rage Against The Machine abandoned vocalist Zack De La Rocha and invited Chris Cornell (ex- vocalist of Soundgarden) to be the new vocalist. This decision is an initiative of producer Rick Rubin and received a positive response from Tom Morello. Then the band Audioslave was formed from the combination of three former members of Rage Against The Machine and the former vocalist  Soundgarden. Audioslave brings musicality hard rock style of the 70s and the alternative rock of the 90s.

During his career, Audioslave has released three albums namely "Audioslave" (2002 ), "Out of Exile" (2005 ) and "Revelations" (2006 ). They also entered as a three-time Grammy Award nominations and their album sold over 8 million copies in the world. Audioslave has also been listed as the first band from America who never held a concert in Cuba free of charge to approximately fifty thousand spectators on May 6, 2005. However, the success of Audioslave to be paid by the dissolution of the band in 2007. The incident began when Morello, Commerford, and Wilk declared themselves to reunite with singer Zack de la Rocha to reshape Rage Against The Machine. After that , Chris Cornell decided to get out from Audioslave and Audioslave officially dissolved.

VELVET REVOLVER

Members : Slash (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Duff Mc Kagan (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Matt Sorum (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), and Dave Kushner (ex-Wasted Youth).

After Axl Rose and Slash decided to separate, Fans Guns N' Roses split into two camps mainly located in Axl Rose and Slash partly defended. However this is not fully approved by everyone. then in 1997, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum issued by Guns N' Roses. Three former personnel Guns N' Roses was then decided to set up a new band called Velvet Revolver. They also invited Scott Weiland and Dave Kushner to join with Velvet Revolver.

The band's name is a combination of the name Black velvet proposed by Weiland and Revolver proposed by Slash. Then both the name shortened to Velvet Revolver. Velvet Revolver released their first album titled Contraband in 2004. The album was a success with up to 2 million copies sold and is able to rank first in the Billboards album chart. His single Slither also achieve the same success with the first position Billboard Modern Rock Track. Velvet Revolver also released the song Set Me Free which is a song from the soundtrack of film Hulk (2003 ).

In 2008 Weiland declared out of Velvet Revolver and back again to Stone Temple Pilots. Weiland left the band due to the fray with the other personnel. After that, each personnel is busy with his own project.

ANGELS & AIRWAVES

Members : Tom DeLonge (Blink-182), Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails, Lostprophets), Ryan Sinn (The Distillers), Atom Willard (Offspring, Against Me!), Matt Wachter (30 Seconds to Mars), David Kennedy (Box Car Racer) And Eddie Breckenridge(Thrice)

Tom DeLonge was reportedly involved in an altercation with one of the personnel Blink 182 , namely Mark Hoppus. Then Tom DeLonge out suddenly from Blink 182 in 2005 through his ​​manager and decided to form a new band called Angels & Airwaves (AVA). Angels & Airwaves musicality is very unique and very different from Blink 182. AVA carries futuristic music which is the result of a mixture of alternative, rock and neo progressive space. Then Tom DeLonge recruited guitarist David Kennedy (Box Car Racer) , bassist Matt Watcher (30 Seconds to Mars) and drummer Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails).

Angels and Airwaves (AVA) has released four studio albums including, "We Dont Need To Whisper " (2006 ), "I Empire" (2007 ), "Love" (2010 ), and "Love Part Two" (2011). AVA get a good response from the fans. This is evidenced by the success of their first album entitled "We Dont Need To Whisperwere able to reach the top four positions on the Billboard Top 200 and get a gold certification from the recording industry in the United RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). This success continued on their second album called "I Empirewere able to reach the third position in the iTunes Rock Chart with the single flagship Everythings Magic.

In 2009 Angels and Airwave (AVA) decided to take a rest period due to Tom DeLonge decided to regroup with Blink 182 . This decision was taken due to the reason that the life of Travis Barker nearly disappeared after a plane crash. Tom DeLonge also said that any problem when it comes to the lives of all ego will disappear and forget all the disputes between him and Mark Hoppus. Although Tom DeLonge back again join with Blink 182, he is still active as a member of Angels and Airwave.

ARMY OF ANYONE

Members : Richard Patrick (Filter), Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), Dean DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots) and Ray Luzier (Korn)

Army of Anyone is an alternative rock band that formed in 2005 consisting of musicians with a flair complete. The band consists of vocals are filled by Richard Patrick, gitars and bass filled by two brothers Dean DeLeo and Robert DeLeo, and the position of the drum by Ray Luzier who is a drummer who had been active in the band Korn since 2009. Beginning of formation Army of Anyone because Patrick and the DeLeo was saturated after Stone Temple Pilots vacuum for a while. This is due to a problem with their vocalist is Scott Weiland.

The band Army Of Anyone got a lot of compliments on the quality of their music, especially on a track titled Goodbye and Fatcher Figure. both songs are much played on the radio and one song called Gooodbye had reached the third position in the US Mainstream Rock chart. But it does not affect the sales of the album Army of Anyone who is not quite successful in the market.

THEM CROOKED VULTURE

Members : Dave Grohl (Foo Fighter, Nirvana), Josh Homme (Queens Of Stones Age,Kyuss), and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin)

Them Crooked Vulture is a supergroup that brought the genre of alternative rock, rock and hard rock pychedelic which was founded in 2009. The band is one of the cross-generational band consisting of some of the top musicians and legendary rock music. Members of the band consists of Dave Grohl (drums), Josh Homme (vocals/guitars) and John Paul Jones (bass).

Them Crooked Vulture begin recording in 2009 and their first appearance on August 9 in the same year in Chicago USA. Them Crooked Vulture success when the first single, entitled New Fang position 12 Chart Billboard Top 200. In addition, Them Crooked Vulture managed to get various awards including winning the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2011.

A PERFECT CIRCLE

Members : Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Billy Howerdel, Jeordie White(Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails), James Iha (Smashing Pumkins) and drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, The Vandals)

A Perfect Circle is a supergroup bearers of alternative rock that was formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel with Billy Howerdel. Initial formation of the band consisted of Paz Lenchantin on bass, Troy Van Leeuwen (Queen of Stones Age) on guitar, and Tim Alexander (Primus) on drums. This formation does not last long and eventually formed a new formation that is filled by bassist Jeordie White, guitarist Iha and drummer Josh Freese. Despite a change of personnel, A Perfect Circle is still consistent with the present genre of alternative rock songs. During his career A Perfect Circle has released three albums including Mer de Noms (2000 ), Thirteenth Step (2003 ) and emotive (2004 ) .

This band had a vacuum in 2004 because their members are busy with their own projects. In 2008 A Perfect Circle started the tour again and preparing new material. In 2013 the band released a greatest hits album titled Three Sixty, which contains one new song  By and Down.

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION

Members : Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath), Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and Derek Sherinian

Black Country Communion is a hard rock band that formed in 2009 in Los Angeles, California. This band is a supergroup comprised of Glenn Hughes (bass/vocals), Joe Bonamassa (guitar/vocals), Bonham (drums), and Derek Sherinian (keyboardist). The band was originally formed by Hughes and Bonamassa with the help of producer Kevin Shirley, Black Country Communion released a self-titled debut album in September 2010. Then they released the album Black Country Communion 2 in June 2011, which was promoted on a tour of Europe at the end of the year. The band released the third and final album in October 2012 , namely Afterglow.

In 2013 Joe Bonamassa announced he was resigning from the Black Country Communion. Hearing this, Hughes also confirmed that the band officially broke up.
